Carlos Sainz Confident of Replicating McLaren ‘Environment’ at Ferrari

Carlos Sainz will drive his first Ferrari later this month in a private test in the 2018 car. The Spaniard is joining Ferrari in a tricky situation.

The most successful team had their worst season since 1980 last season. However, the Spaniard comes to the team on the back of an impressive season with McLaren.

Meanwhile, Ferrari and Sainz have set out the expectations for the Tifosi. They are still recovering from the last season and have clarified that immediate success is not guaranteed. However, Sainz is certain that he can recreate his impressive performance with the Maranello-based outfit.

“If I could create a good team, generate good dynamics at McLaren, why not do it at Ferrari? I can do it. I like the people out there, I like Mattia (Binotto, team boss in Maranello) and I like what I see, what we have talked about.

“There was no hesitation when it came to signing the contract and going forward. In my head there is no possibility that this environment and similar situation cannot be generated. If I could at McLaren, I can at Ferrari,” said the Spaniard.

Ferrari had a very difficult season due to a lack of power courtesy of their castrated engine. They fell out of the Top-3 teams and were left scraping the bottom of the midfield this season. Sainz wants to work with Ferrari and help the team get out of this slump.

However, he pointed out, “I don’t know, I have to see it. Once inside, I have to analyze the situation, and then contribute my knowledge and my way of doing things.

“A team is a thousand people and the pilot can only put talent, speed and a direction in which the development of the team should go.”

Carlos Sainz will drive alongside the Monegasque sensation, Charles Leclerc next season. The battle between the pair will be really interesting.

It will be more difficult for Sainz as he needs to spend some time getting familiar with the Ferrari engine. Hopefully, the battle will bolster the Prancing Stallion’s claim to the top of the table yet again.
