Dr. Anthony Fauci, Alex Azar receive Moderna COVID-19 vaccine

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the face of the federal government’s COVID-19 pandemic response, is receiving a dose of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine Tuesday with Health and Human Services head Alex Azar.

Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, is joined by Azar, National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins and other NIH Clinical Center frontline health workers.

“We believe it’s important to publicly receive the vaccine as part of our efforts to demonstrate that these vaccines are safe and effective,” said Azar in a tweet.

“I look forward to rolling my #SleeveUp this morning to receive the Moderna #COVID19 vaccine today alongside frontline workers from @NIHClinicalCntr, @NIHDirector, and @NIAIDNews Dr. Fauci,” he said in another post.
