Ryan Garcia Reveals Why He Picked Manny Pacquiao Over Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis

Ryan Garcia had his aim fixed at WBA titleholder Gervonta Davis and vowed to overpower ‘Tank’ within two rounds of their fight. However, Manny Pacquiao suddenly entered the ride, and Garcia is now rumored to fight the Filipino Senator in his next appearance.

Following a TKO win over Luke Campbell, Garcia called out Gervonta Davis and fans feel this would have made more sense for ‘KingRy’ as it would have been against a lightweight boxer.

Hence, the unbeaten 22-year-old explained why he opted Manny Pacquiao over Gervonta Davis. That said, Ryan Garcia hasn’t put ‘Tank’ out of his radar.

Speaking on social media, the 22-year-old said, “Right after my fight with Luke Campbell, my eyes were set on that ‘Tank’ fight. You know, I have been saying Tank’s name for a while and it’s because I am hungry and I want to fight somebody that is froze. I have respect for him in that way, I think he is a great fighter but I also feel like I will beat him and knock him out in 2 rounds and I will continue to say that.”

He added, “Look at it in my perspective, I have no knowledge of Manny Pacquiao fight. That was a dream of mine, that was something I said out of just my dream, and imagination. That was my heart and one of the thing I have always wanted. You know it was just dreams at that moment.”

So, it’s safe to say that Garcia has several opportunities ahead. But which one will he pick?

What’s next for Ryan Garcia?

Starting from Pacquiao to Davis and the other lightweight champions in Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney, Garcia can stage several big fights for himself. He is the WBC Interim champion, and a fight against WBC title-holder Devin Haney is also highly possible.

“Tank will be there, Tank is 26 I believe or 24. I don’t know how it is. I am 22. That’s gonna be there right after Pacquiao, right after Pacquiao,” said Garcia.

Meanwhile, 140 lbs roster is also stacked at this moment and a shift in weight class can further intensify the tale for Ryan Garcia who could look to rule the roost in a second weight class.
