UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs Kattar- Max Holloway vs Calvin Kattar: Prediction and Analysis

The UFC will return to action for the first time in 2021 with an exciting fight card that makes history for the company. UFC featherweights Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar square off in the main event that takes place on Fight Island. The aforementioned fight will always be remembered as the first main event to have taken place on network television.

In terms of the fight itself, the victor will provide some understanding about the person next in line for a title shot. The featherweight division is currently one of the most electric divisions on the roster, with plenty of fan interest. Moreover, their styles come together to provide a potential ‘Fight of the Year’ contender early into the year.

UFC featherweights: Max Holloway vs Calvin Kattar

The former featherweight champion has gone 1-3 in his last four fights, however, all his losses came through in title shots. Holloway is fresh off a razor-thin defeat to current champion Alexander Volkanovski in a fight many believe he won. Moreover, he’ll be keen to etch a win under his belt to possibly get in line to get another crack at gold.

Holloway’s last two fights against Alexander ‘The Great’ provided some insight into his ability to adapt and alter his style. ‘Blessed’ is able to stretch out the fight to suit his domain while sprinkling in spells of intense activity. What’s more, his ability to take a shot and still continue to trade is certainly a huge net positive.

‘The Boston Finisher’

Calvin Kattar is arguably one of the recent breakout stars that has positioned himself for a shot at undisputed gold. ‘The Boston Finisher’ has looked increasingly impressive, and his recent outings have included slick boxing from the get-go. His emphatic 5-round affair against Dan Ige sticks out as his most defining performance to date.

The stand-out fighter from Boston’s ‘New England Cartel’ has much more than just an effective jab and proficient takedown defense. He’ll have to be wary of tremendous bouts of volume that is sure to come his way during the 25-minutes. However, the accumulated damage over a 5-round fight will likely be his undoing against a pressure fighter like Holloway.

Prediction: Max Holloway to claim a unanimous decision victory
