Former lightweight king Vasyl Lomachenko has provided an update about his return to the sport. The pound-for-pound star has recovered and is looking forward to his return to the sport. He even gave a warning to the other contenders in the sport.
Lopez outclassed ‘Loma’ in a close fight to become the new lightweight king. Furthermore, after the fight, his camp revealed that he was fighting with a nasty shoulder injury. Soon after the fight, he went for surgery and was out for at least a few weeks.
The Ukrainian took to Instagram to give an update on the injury. He first posted a picture of him in the gym with the caption, “I have my back, I leave no room for doubt! 2021 I can’t wait to… [Box].” This showed his desire to get back to the ring.
He then posted another picture of himself sitting in the ring with the caption “Back from the matrix, I can’t hear what they’re saying!”
By this, Lomachenko has hinted at all the criticism being thrown his way after the fight, with many critics and fighters counting him out.

Why was Vasyl Lomachenko criticized?
Lomachenko dominated the lighter divisions for a while now. He was the fastest two-weight and three-weight world champion in the sport in terms of fights. Plus, the Ukrainian sat atop the P4P list. However, it all changed after his loss against Teofimo Lopez.
Many felt he was finished and should retire. A few others felt he should move down in weight, while the other lightweight contenders also called for him to move down in weight. Despite this, it seems like the Ukrainian wants to prove a point in this division.
As of today, he ranks #1 on the Ring Magazine, TBRB, and WBC rankings while ranking #2 on ESPN’s list. This shows he still has many opportunities in this division and could still get the big fights to prove his point.
Who he fights is the tough question. On his day, he can beat the best in the world. However, given the severity of his injury, we suspect he will take a fight against lower-ranked opposition to get in the groove again.
Do you think Vasyl Lomachenko can scale the heights he reached once again?
